Our Story - Keep Pouring

Our Story - Keep Pouring

What Do You Have in Your House?

"What do you have in your house?"2 Kings 4:2

Sometimes God asks us a question that changes everything.

For me, it was this one.

There was a season in my life when I didn't know what came next.

After making the difficult decision to close my business of 13 years, I felt lost. It wasn't simply the end of a business. It felt like the end of a dream I had invested years of my life building. I found myself wondering what God was asking me to do next.

I didn't have the answers - I just knew I had to create again and keep pouring.  God would reveal the rest in his time.

During that season, I kept returning to a story in Scripture- 2 Kings 4:2

A widow.

A prophet.

A small jar of oil.

The widow had lost her husband and was facing overwhelming debt. She cried out to the prophet Elisha for help, expecting that somehow he would solve her problem.

Instead, he asked her a simple question.

"What do you have in your house?"

Her answer seemed almost insignificant.

"Your servant has nothing at all... except a small jar of olive oil."

Nothing...

Except.

Those two words have stayed with me.

How often do we focus on what we don't have instead of what God has already placed in our hands?

The widow didn't realize that the very thing she thought was too small would become the beginning of God's miracle.

Finding Peace Again

Around that same time, I found myself craving something simple.

Not another business.

Not another project.

Just peace and an opportunity to create again.

Every morning, before the world wakes up, you'll find me sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, my Bible open, a journal nearby, and a candle burning beside me.

Those quiet moments have become sacred.

They're where I pray.

They're where I listen.

They're where God gently reminds me that His mercies really are new every morning.

As I looked for candles to enjoy during those mornings, I wanted products that were beautifully made with clean ingredients—something I felt good about bringing into my home.

I struggled to find exactly what I was looking for.

So I decided to learn how to make them myself.

What started as curiosity soon became healing.

Every candle I poured reminded me of that widow's jar of oil.

More Than Candles

SunnyBrook wasn't born because the world needed another candle and body care company.

It was born because I believe we and our homes matter.

Home is where prayers are whispered.

Where families gather around dinner tables.

Where difficult conversations happen.

Where babies are rocked to sleep.

Where holidays become memories.

Where we rest after hard days.

Where we open God's Word before the rest of the world demands our attention.

If our homes shape so much of our lives, shouldn't they also be places filled with peace?

That's the heart behind every product we create.

Faithfully Made

The widow's oil continued flowing until there were no more empty jars.

I've often wondered if the miracle was as much about her willingness to gather the vessels as it was about the oil itself.

She made room for God to work.

I want SunnyBrook to help people do the same.

Not because our candles and products are magical.

Not because fragrance changes lives.

But because intentional moments do.

A lit candle can become the invitation to slow down.

A familiar fragrance can remind us to breathe deeply.

A quiet morning can become an opportunity to hear God's voice.

Sometimes the smallest habits become the places where God does His greatest work.

Our Prayer

Every candle we pour.

Every body care product we make.

Every fragrance we blend.

Every package we ship.

We pray it helps create homes filled with warmth, peace, joy, and the presence of God.

Because we believe beautiful products can point us toward something even more beautiful.

The One who gives every good gift.

So whenever someone asks how SunnyBrook began...

The answer is simple.

It started with one question.

"What do you have in your house?"

And with God's help, a small jar of oil became the beginning of something far greater than I ever imagined.

Faithfully Made. For homes filled with peace, purpose, and the presence of God.
